Microsoft, Exchange Server 2007 Standard Edition, Service Pack 1, Running in Windows 2003 Server Std x64 Ed R2, Action: DELAYED Status: 4.4.0 (Delivery attempt failed)

I have a remote external sender who keeps getting emails bounced back with the following

From: mailer-daemon@hbosplc.com [mailto:mailer-daemon@hbosplc.com]
Sent: 19 May 2008 13:31
To: *senders name*
Subject: Delivery Notification - Your message has been delayed

Your message has been delayed.  The server will continue trying to forward the message.  You do not need to resend the message.

Apparent cause of delivery failure:
        Attempts to connect to the remote server have failed.

The delay affects the following recipients:

        <recipient@ourdomainname>

This is only this sender who gets this error message returned that has been reported. Eventually the email will fail.
