alternative to remote desktop
I have been using remote desktop for a while now with no issues, now I have been cut off by IT. I tried gotomypc, but it locks up and I can not get back on without a reboot, which I can not do from here. What would be the most reliable alternative.

Talk to your IT department. They do things for security purposes and if you are supposed to have remote access, I'm sure they have a solution - if not, talk to your supervisor and ask them what to do or see if they will go to IT or the director of IT and get something worked out. Otherwise, we can't help you get around your company's security practices.
Warning in my company you would be fired or at least warn. If you can get around the fire wall, some hacker could get to your pc at work. What you want to do is probably against your company policy.
That being said, the firewall is looking for certin ports and patterns. There are several products that can fool the firewal. All will get you fired, if you get caught.

My guess what IT did they will do with any other thing you may come up with.
if IT restricted access through the firewall, there is little you can do. There and here are relative. Check with IT and your superiors to get access restored.

IT will not open the port, my question is what are the alternatives? Gotomypc works at this end but jams on the host end, is there a better way?
