Reload configuration

I have a previous configuration text file that I want to load over our existing ASA 5505 configuration.  Can someone tell me how to do this step by step through command lines.  Thanks.

If you overlay the config it will merge the current config with the new one. Best bet is to;

1) make a backup of the current config and save it to your PC or any external system
2) erase the current config via "write erase" and then reboot via "reload"
3) login to system with default config and cut and paste the previous config
4) save to nvram via "write memory"

If there is a problem you can always restore the original you saved in step 1
