Error: Database was created with an earlier version and therefore I can't save any changes

I have a database that was created with Access 97.  All of the other PC's are able to access and use it just fine.  I installed a new PC and installed Office 97 but now when I try to open the database it says that it was created with an earlier version of Access.  The new PC in XP and it replaced a 2000 PC.  I have serveral others that are XP and they are working with no problems.

The new PC has XP sp 3 but I'm not sure about the other two XP machines.
The link might be somewhat helpful.  I will look more into it tomorrow and let you know.
Is it possible that it is something with SP 3 on XP?

Yes I understand that it is very old.  It is on clients PC's and they are getting a new program soon so that they will no longer need access.  It is an Access 2.0 database i did find that out.  I was looking for a quick fix solution to hold them over for about 2 months.  Thank you for your help.  We are just going to forget it for now and only use it on the ones that work until the new program goes live.  I will split the points.
Your help has saved me hundreds of hours of internet surfing.
