S-Video -- connect HP laptop to Panasonic Verio LCD

One of my tasks is connecting an HP laptop to a 30-inch (or thereabouts) Panasonic LCD.

The LCD TV is working very nicely from its satellite box via HDMI.

But when we put the S-Video cable in, I try every mode but 2 different HP laptops report that no external display is connected.  That report is when we use then FN+F4 keys to tell the laptop to display on the external display.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

Both HP laptops have (besides the built-in LCD) a VGA port and an S-Video port.

They have a key sequence that's supposed to switch between output to the built-in LCD and the external -- either VGA or S-Video.

The adapter type on at least one of the notebooks is an ATI Mobility Radeon Xpress 200 Series.

I should have thought of the 2-monitor though ... will try that when I go back.

Try the second monitor option and ensure your INPUT on the TV is set to however you cable to it.... If you go from SVIDEO on the PC to SVIDEO on th TV, make sure your Input on the TV is set to SVIDEO or whatever its marked as next to the connecting port(IE: COAX,SVIDEO,HDMI,Etc).... This must be set on the TV. At this point you have said it works fine when using the HDMI cable to provide the feed signal via sat or cable provider. You;ll have to go into the Menu options on the TV and change the Input setting from SAT to SVIDEO or whatever Input number is labeled next to the port you used to connect from the PC to the Tv....
