Setting Rules On Public Folders

I have Exchange 2007 SP1 i have created public folders. I would like to apply rules. I want a central public folder to recieve all the emails, then i want to move some of the email directly to a subfolder. I tried this by forwarding to the email address of a mail enabled subfolder but it did not work.

Am i missing something is there an easier way to apply rules to public folders. I basically want to sort some of the emails into subfolders based on the email it originates from.

In Outlook you right-click the public folder, select Administartion, button Folder rules (translated) and set up your rules there.
