Permissions changed on home folder

I set up a user on Server 2003 AD/DC. Home folder has been created at first log in, users worked with for a few days and now has no write privileges. I deleted folder and manually recreated it but still cannot get write permissions working. After checking event log users pc and user credentials are authenticating during log on. All other shares are fine and all other users permissions on home folders OK. I do not want to share this folder out and set up permissions that way. My Documents are not redirected. I would like to know not just how to fix but how this happens, Thanks
