I can't seem to recreate your problem but you can try to insert the word doc as a obect in the slide.<br />
That way it should keep all the formatting as it was in ms word

There are things on the Word document I don't need in Powerpoint, so bringing the whole Word file in won't work for me.<br />

All that time I was pasting, I didn't even notice the &quot;paste options&quot; button. &nbsp;Unfortunately, none of the options are what I want (text only, keep source formatting, keep slide design template formatting). &nbsp;I want to keep some of the source's formatting, and some of the slide's formatting. &nbsp;I looked at the demo for this add-in, and it allows you to do exactly that.<br />

All that time I was pasting, I didn't even notice the "paste options" button.  Unfortunately, none of the options are what I want (text only, keep source formatting, keep slide design template formatting).  I want to keep some of the source's formatting, and some of the slide's formatting.  I looked at the demo for this add-in, and it allows you to do exactly that.
