VMWare vs VMware
Why is this zone named VMWare? The name of the company is VMware...
Might be a mistake :p
vmware is commonly abbreviated as VMW this might be why it is spelled as such here.

Since VMWare stands for Virtual MachineWare, I think it's not that bad to call it that way - it covers computer virtualisation, right? It's not just the SoftWare, or the HardWare, or the Firmware, it's all of that - MachineWare...
It's named under OS Category, just like Microsoft. But in this case we can't list vmware workstatiion as a sub-category OS, when it's an app. whilst esx /kernal is an OS equivalent.

...so there's no hope that someone has the power to fix this misspelling here at ee?

S00007359,
I don't understand what you mean. I never suggested that we should have had different subcategories for each product or that it was under the wrong category. It's perfectly fine with me that we have all products right here under software.
The problem here is that the name of the company behind this is spelled wrong here on E-E.

Thanks for your feedback CJRODRIG. I did also contact an admin and he said they would address it. I'm however keeping this question open until we have a solution.

4-5 years ago even VMware themselves were not 100% consistent in their writings so it's not really a big surprise that a few people are writing it that way. I did however come across this forum in a search and though I'd raise the awareness of this issue.

As I've not been a frequent user of E-E I might not be so familiar with everything here, but as I found little progress here I did send an email to the admin for the software zone.

I'm also planning to stick around and also answer a few other questions as long as I have this question open.

Thanks for shedding some lights on this topic again!

Lars
