VPN Connection speed

I have a VPN well two actually set up at my place of work.

My boss has a place in France where he will work for some weeks throughout the year. It is quite remote and his max broadband speed is 512k so we are told it goes in today.  Oor VPN runs at 2 meg up and 23 down.

We are connecting to the VPN and logging on via TS to  Server 2003 box.

Will this connection be slow and if so will it even work.

If it does work can one users connection be configured (i.e. my bosses) on the TS to be 256 colours to speed things up just like it was on a 2000 server TS.

Or what is max reccomended speed for internet connection when coming in via a vpn I assume a dial up would be fine but it may be that TS on Server 2003 full colour box may be the issue we have.
