Installing Server 2003 R2 into exsisting Structure

I just got a new server for my organization. I have 4 existing server all running Windows Server 2003. My new server has Windows Server 2003 R2. It gives me an error when I try to promote it to a DC. I looked up the error and found that I need to run ADPREP in the server that holds the Schema Master. My question is ... WIll have to restart the server that I run ADPREP on?

No; also: be sure to run ADPREP from the second CD in the Windows 2003 R2 set

Midnight is correct you need to run adprep on all dc's to extend the R2 schema on them
