CPU always running high

My CPU is now running at 50% when idle and only firefox running, and runs at 100% when I have more programmes running. I have loads of disk spec, RAM , power etc so not sure why. Have ran a load of spyware blaster, system checks etc as other posts have advised but hasn't helped. Have ran a Hijack this log if of help? Many thanks

To make sure you are reporting the correct "cpu usage %" not the "% of maximum core frequency" - Can you be specific where you get the reading of your cpu usage %?

Set both the high and low setting for Virtual Memory to the same number.
Make it about 1.5 x the amount of Physical RAM you have.

Virtual memory is the Page File, it is basically part of your hard drive being used as memory (you can think of it as memory overflow space).
If left in 'auto' sometimes windows will resize it over and over and each time it does that it is using up CPU to re-write the page file.

This is the best money I have ever spent. I cannot not tell you how many times these folks have saved my bacon. I learn so much from the contributors.

Firefox is the process running with 100% CPU?

Which page do you try to load? Is there any flash, adobe or other addon stuff at this page?

I would suggest to update firefox (if not newest) and the plugins (adobe, flash, shockwave...)

Good luck
