Pinnacle/Sony DVD Burner Problem

My question is related to another one that I had posted earlier - https://www.experts-exchange.com/Hardware/Misc/Q_23406508.html
I reinstalled Windows and the drive was responding appropriately to blank media. I did make periodic restore points as I installed my apps on the machine. I finally identified Pinnacle Studio 11 as the software which is causing this to happen. There is a component called Instant DVD Recorder which I suspect is causing the issue but cannot be sure. If anyone has a workaround for this please let me know or else I have a restore point and I will look for some other DVD authoring software.

I uninstalled the "Instant DVD Recorder" component and the problem is resolved. I do not know what implications this may have on my Studio 11 install.
Thanks for the response.

As I said, if that is a packet writer, it isn't needed. Packet writers are the sort of software which make a CD act like a HD.
