Epson TM-220D Receipt Printer Prints TOO MUCH PAPER!

Originally I had the Epson installed on one computer, sharing the printer to another computer BOTH running Windows 2000.  One of my computers died so I replaced both computers with brand new HP's.  However the HP does NOT have the COM1 port which is the only way to hook up the printer without getting the serial to USB adaptor, and also came with XP(that may have an effect on things),so I kept the printer installed on the old computer that still worked, and shared the printer to the two NEW HP's, essentially making the old computer my print server.  My problem is now whenever I print a receipt, I get about a foot of extra paper after its done printing!  The driver installed is the Generic/Text driver which has worked for years.  I've tried different drivers and even a different printer but still having the same problem.  I can't seem to find much info about the TM-U220D.  Any ideas why all of the sudden it's deciding to print an extra foot of paper?
