Exchange 2003 Enterprise keeps drpooing the mail store because its over 80GB storage

Greetings.

running a win 2003 server SP2 with exchange 2003 enterprise.

i am running into the problem where exchagne is dis mounting the mailbox because of an 80GB limit.

PS: the box and xchage works fine - we imported a few .pst files onto the hard drive but no where close to its physical limit. the root of the problem stems from an 80GB mailstore limit, how to increase that number?

not sure why this is so - can anyone help?

thanks.

in my situation where i am not sure if SP2 was installed or not -

1. do you believe that could be a reason why xchane 2003 enterprise capped the mail store limit at 80GB?

2. if that is the case - do you also believe that updating exchange to sp2 would remove the 80gb cap?

3. if sp2 is installed what else could be the issue?

thanks

No, Enterprise is capped at 8TB in PreSP2 - Installing SP2 just means you can customize it to lower.

If SP2 is installed, then as already posted, check the registry edits to see if those keys exist.

adrianimohamed: will try the registry tomorrow. just to let you know - i am not a big fan of playing around the registry on a production server. how do you make a backup of this so if anything fails i can just reinstall.

thanks

You can backup the registery before you do anything.

I wouldn't even bother with a backup - as long as you don't start deleting things, you will be fine.  Just open the registry and have a look to see if the key even exists - if it does, simply change the value.

i did change the reg keys on the xchange - it was set to 80GB.
now changed to 8TB , should give no problems.
thanks again.
