I am having issues creating a simple ASP.NET webpage using Visual Basic in Visual Studio 2008 Pro. The webpage takes input from the user through some text boxes and saves a new entry into a database using Microsoft SQL Server 2005. When I test this webpage through the VB development GUI it runs perfect! However when I publish the website and try to view in externally in IE7 I get the following error:
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

<%@ Page Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="Default.aspx.vb" Inherits="_Default" %>

I have uninstalled everything to do with .NET on my computer and tried reinstalling (e.g. IE7, Visual Studio 2008, .NET Framework 3.5 and  any other Framework version etc). I even tried installing VB 2008 Express Edition but still get the same error. I tried to build the website with the Express Edition of Visual Web Developer but still with no success!
I have seached on Goolge and this seems to be a common erorr but it looks like nobody understands exactly what is going on? I see various solutions which work in some cases but not for me. E.g. one solution posted on an MSDN forum was to try to run "%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe -i" but this has not helped in my case.

If anyone else has sucessfully root caused and fixed this issue can you please help me out!

Thanks in advance,
