Log usage of Internet for some users
Management wants to verify/log the Internet usage for some users. On a total of 20 pc's, we need to verify activity on 5 or 6 stations. We are running SBS2003 Standard (no ISA), with a simple plain router (Multitech RouteFinder) with no logging facility. Main features we are looking for are:
- web sites visited
- time spent online (chatting, per web site or category)
We don't necessarly need to log chat sessions, or block access to web sites/IM sites. Just see if valuable work time is spent there so that management can warn the appropriate users about it.
The person reviewing the logs/statistics would not be an IT person.
Any recommendations ?

The only way you can do this reliably is to use a proxy server of some description eg: ISA server
ASKER
Besides ISA server (which we don't have), would you have any specific proxy server recommendation ?
p.s. Replacing the router for a model that would allow Internet activity logging is an option we would also be ready to look at.

thanks LegendZM. Why Untangle over others ? (used it personnaly and like it? based on reviews ?) How is the reporting ?
I've used it personally, and it's a pretty good solution for a free piece of software. If you pay a small fee you even get more features to integrate it with AD.
It's very feature rich, stable, etc. Of course my main recommendation would be ISA but that's very pricey.
