sql server 2005: trc files

I've got a db whose trc files have grown too large.  What are these?  How can I get rid of them? And how can I control the growth?

what if it doesn't allow me to delete them?  How else can I get rid of them?

It says: cannot delete <filename> There is not enough free disk space.

thats not good....thats an OS error, not a SQL Error.  Look at your data files to see how large they are.  Sounds like you're probably going to have to stop and restart your sql server (service not the machine)
