How to configure DBExpress for MSSQL Server in Delphi 6

Hi.

I have Delphi 6 with update pack 2 and want to use DBExpress to connect to a MSSQL Server database, however my current installation of Delphi 6 only shows me the drivers for Oracle, MySQL and DB2. On the other hand, I also have installed in the same machine Delphi 2005 and I can connect to a MSSQL Server database using DBExpress. The application I'm working on uses some components with license for Delphi 6 only. I would like to configure my Delphi 6 so that I can connect to MSSQL databases as well. Note: using my Delphi 6 installation I can connect to a DB2 database using DBExpress. I tryed to copy the files:

dbxconnections.ini
dbxdrivers.ini

from Delphi 2005 to the Delphi 6 file structure, I also copied the driver dll to the Delphi 6 structure. The MSSQL connection option now appears on the available driversof Delphi 6 but when I change the connected property of TSQLConnection to true, I get something like "unmaped error" message.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Thank you.

Back in the Delphi 6 days, used ADO for MSSQL connections and worked really well... Check out : http://www.islamov.com/dbexpress/ and there is a step_by_step guide.

Have you got the latest dbExpress ? download / buy / links at http://www.crlab.com/sdac/ordering.html

Hello mark_wills.

I was thinking that could be posible to just configure something in my existing installation to activate the drivers not buying components. I'm sorry, I'm going to cancel this question.

Thank you.

Have you got your problem sorted out ?  Thought you already had dbexpress ?

Hello mark_wills.

I end up using ADO components to solve my problem.

Delphi 6 comes with DBExpress drivers for Oracle, DB2 and MySQL but not for MSSQL. Delphi 2005 and Delphi 2006 included the DBExpress drivers for MSSQL and I wanted to know if I could do something to "import" them, so to say, in my Delphi 6 installation (I have D2005 and D2006 but have to use Delphi 6 because I have other  licenced components for Delphi6).

Kind regards.
