Allow remote application file up load using PHP

Dear Experts,

I would like a php script that will allow a remote application to pass an xml file to my server. The file would be copied/moved to a directory called /home/custom. We have been allowing other applications to pass the xml file via good old FTP but want to change this.

What is the best way to go about this? Do I create a form, but is that not for manual input? Do I create a socket which the remote application writes to?

hernst42,

Being a beginner the links are somewhat hard to follow? What would the code look like at minimum to allow for a remote application to post the file to it?
