Toad: Execute as script

Experts,

I have download Toad freeware version and now i am trying to use the option Execute as script and it is not working. I mean the option is active and before i select this option to run scripts in editor i can edit the scripts but after i have selected it and clicked it , i can not do anything.And it is also not running the scripts as well. Any thoughts on executing a bunch of scripts without using toad but using Oracle express edition ?

I think you need to hightlight the lines of code you want to run as a script first, then click the execute as script button.

nope..  don't need to high-light anything

but, you can hightlight one statement, then press F9,
     and it will run that statement

or, just put your "cursor" somewhere on the statement (not hightlighted) and press F9
     and that will run just that statement (assuming they're seperated by a semi-colon ;

I think that will execute one script, but not a "bunch of scripts". I think to execute "a bunch of scripts" you have to highlight everything first. Failing that, put each script in its own.sql file and then run them all by having a clalling script in the form:
@script1;
@script2;
@script3 etc

you don't need to do that either.

Experts,
I am having the same problem, 'Execute as script' just does not work, period.  I know HOW to use it, but it just does not do anything when pressed.  Could there be a setting to switch this feature on?  Could there be a conflict in F-key settings?  It there some install feature that was missed.  Other people on my floor have this problem, others don't.  I can't believe nobody on the internet has posted this before, it is very frustrating!!   Obviously, because we are using the freeware Toad 8.5 version, we cannot even ask Quest themselves!!   :-(

Hi Eric, even with the free version, the TOAD FAQ at Quest and the TOADWORLD community may have news of a workaround or known bug.  I presume w/o knowledge that it's not a disabled feature.
Were I in your shoes, my triage would be to confirm in SQL*Plus that the set of scripts will execute (to ensure correct syntax).  Next (at least in the paid version), I'll view what TOAD's doing by displaying the commands used:  DATABASE | SPOOL SQL then spool to screen or file.  Really, really handy, and I hope that helps.
