asked on
viewer kiosk for vmware virtual desktop infrastructure vdi
We are currently running vmware virtual desktop infrastructure secuessfully. I am looking for a live version of linux that i can put on a usb drive that i can configure to automatically connect to my vdi website and launch the end users vdi. the live version of linux would also need java. any one have any ideas. i do not have any experience with linux, so please be specific in your answers. im looking for something pretty easy hopefully.
Have you had a look at thinstation? It supports both rdp, java, citrix and many other things and exists as pxe, livecd, usb, etc...

to clarify. Im looking to take a bunch of our older pc's and use them to connect to virtual desktops. I was thinking to go the liveCD or live USB route so i dont have to perform a install on the older devices. I basically want to run a small distro on a usb drive that will boot up to a browser and already have java installed so i can get to my vdi website that we use to connect to vdi's. I hope this clarifies.
Thanks

Tom,
That was exactly what I thought your needs was. While I haven't used thinstation for this task (VDI) it should support your needs (browser+java+rdp). I have however used it for connecting old PCs to a Citrix farm.
