AOL Error - Cannot reply or forward messages

When signing on to AOL, one screenname receives the following error "An error occurred while loading a file.  AOL will attempt to restore the file."  You can still log in but when you open the mailbox only envelopes are displayed (no subjects or senders) and you can open mail but when you do the Reply, Reply All and Forward buttons are grayed out.  Other screen names on the account work normal as usual.   I have been unable to find any information regarding how to fix this!  I tried system restore to several days before it began with no luck.  It started with AOL 9.0 Security Edition so I tried upgrading to AOL 9.1 but that also did not work.  Also, I can log on normally with this screen name from another computer.

Have you contacted AOL they are the best support for this type of problem.
This one solution they posted but as I said do this at your own risk.

AOL ERROR MESSAGE
Error message when starting AOL 9.0 Security Edition SE
An error occurred while loading a file. AOL will attempt to restore the file.   Click OK
If the error continues check your AOL folder for a corrupted file.

Possibly corrupted file in the C:\WINDOWS\All Users\Application Data\AOL\C_America Online 9.0\organize folder as indicated by the !!???? name given to the first file there.

Note: Before continuing,
Send any mail in the SEND LATER folder.
Save any email that you have saved to your PC to the AOL folder to avoid losing, just in case.
All unread mail is still on the AOL server and will be available to you when you can again sign onto AOL.

Delete the file and also delete it from the C:\WINDOWS\All Users\Application Data\AOL\C_America Online 9.0\backup folder.
Once the file has been deleted from both places, try to sign on to AOL to see if you receive the error.

If this doesn't work, uninstall the AOL 9.0 SE program and reinstall manually with the command below.
(AOL CD in Cd-Rom)
 Start->Run->D:\AOL9.0\SETUP90.exe /s -eu
where D:\ is the letter of the CD-ROM drive

ASKER

I saw that solution online also but it did not work for me.  AOL does not provide support for free accounts now so I'm kind of stuck.
I believe so.
Have you done simple things such as delete your cookies and temp ie files.
What happened?

one screenname <<??
Other screen names on the account work normal as usual.<< then maybe you need to log out all of the other screen names.
How many free accounts can you have?
If the email inbox reaches full capacity.
If the email box is still open from a previous screename?
AOL does have a high reputation for spyware regestering it's dlls throughout your system.
Download HijackThis from here.
http://www.hijackthis.de/
The application comes in an archive and you will have to extract and save it in a permanent folder such as C:\HJT.
2. Run the program and click the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button.
3. Locate the file called hijackthis.log in the same folder where you saved the application
and copy/paste its contents onto >>http://www.hijackthis.de/
hit analyse
takes you over to the page that shows your analysed log.
Re-run hijackthis and fix.
