Hi,

Im looking to capture email statistics from Exchange 2003.

I wish to capture daily, weekly, monthly reports on email volume inbound and outbound.

I have enabled the performance counters on the server (windows 2003), I just need help creating and scheduling a counter log. My difficulty is identifying the correct objects and counters.

Any help would be great.

Open Performance Monitor, use Performance Object "SMTP Server" and select "Message Bytes Sent Total" and "Message Bytes Received Total".

You can also track number of emails through the "Messages Delivered Total" and "Messages Received Total".

You will have to use Counter Logs to get long term statistics.  When you set it up, Performance Monitor will run in the background (no login required) and collect the stats you specify.
