Im in Visual Studio 2005.  Using standard DETAILS View with a SQL Table Datasource in aspx page.  It works well  and fine however I've modified the INSERT TEMPLATE with a dropdown combo box, this dropdown has another SQL datasource containing and ID field and a NAME field for user to select from.
Then of course I want the users seletion to UPDATE the datasource.

I need help with getting sample code to peform this update in the EVENT handler of the combo box as I understand the TEMPLATE will not perform the update.

thanks for any assistance.

Actually Im going to simplify this digitalZo.
In the INSERT ITEM TEMPLATE I've added the combo box dropdown (mentioned above) next to the text box thats bound to the datasource.  I just want the value from combo box to autofill into the text box.  This in VB is ordinarily very simple but I can't seem to get the syntax right to capture the value from one and place it in the other.

Something to get you started:

http://www.dotnetspider.com/resources/2314-How-place-DropDownList-DataGrid-fire-S.aspx

altho it is of datagridview and not detailsview.

i coded it for gridview in my app by changing the datagridview to gridview. you can try it that way for detailsview, if you want.
