Remote Printing

I am connected from home,to my company network via VPN (using Aventail SSL) I can see and open files but cannot print to my local network printer. Out IT department said all I would have to do is install the drivers on the laptop I am using and all shoud be OK. I can print OK from my other network PC's but not from the laptop. Obviously the printer IP is for my local network and therefore different to the VPN IP. Any pointers would be appreciated. Can ping printer when not connected to VPN. Printer is shared.
Any suggestions?

When you do ping form the laptop to others PCs what happen ?
And do it to printer ?
Printer and Pcs are in the same network, ie, have similar IPs (192.168.0.15 and 192.168.0.15) ?
Are you using windows domain ?
Do you authenticate to windows after connect to VPN ?
