Send page by email won't do anything unless outlook is closed
When I try and send a page by email in IE7, nothing happens, but if I try and send while outlook is shut down, then it works. This is happening on multiple machines, any ideas? Users are on Outlook 2003.

After I close outlook, it opens back outlook and sends it, but if outlook is already open, it does nothing at all.
dannyboy266--What email program is your default email program? (IE Tools|Internet Options|Programs.)

The default is set correctly, which is outlook. So i'm not sure why when outlook is open it won't work, I have to close outlook for it to come back up when I try and email through IE7.
dannyboy266--I have no idea what is causing this, unless it is IE7. Did you install IE7 over IE6? Did the problem with email start about that time? If yes to both the latter, are you willing to uninstall IE7? You can through Control Panel|Add/Remove|look under Windows Internet Explorer7.
If that fixes the problem, you might leave things that way, using IE6. Or you could reinstall IE7 using the following procedure to minimize the chances for corruption. http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html

It seems to be only happening to machines running office 2003, but they are updated to the latest sp3, so I'm not sure why this is happening.
dannyboy266--Let's go back to the beginning. "When I try and send a page by email in IE7, nothing happens, but if I try and send while outlook is shut down, then it works".
I am not sure I understand that and your subsequent posts. IE is not a email program. I assume you are opening and trying to send an email through Outlook Express. Is that correct? And what is the "it" in "then it works"? Outlook Express?
Basically I am trying to understand what the window is in which you are composing the email message (Outlook or Outlook Express?) in the two cases you seem to be describing?

I'm using the "send page by email" function in ie7, and it doesn't do anything at all if outlook 2003 is open. But if I close out of outlook, and try the "send page by email" function again, then it opens outlook and sends the page. But if outlook is already open, then no go, nothing happens.
dannyboy266--File|Send|Pag e by Email should OPEN a window in your default email program. I assume this is Outlook from your previous response. Are you saying that if Outlook is already open, you do not see an Outlook window, but that an Outlook window does appear if Outlook is not already open?
What you are setting up to send is both a text message AND a copy of the web page you are viewing in IE--not just a text message. Is that what you want to do? Or do you only want to send a text message?
Just to double check that Outlook is your default program (especially after either a "repair install" or System Restore, go to IE Tools|Internet Options| Programs Tab. In the line for "Email," choose Microsoft Outlook|Apply|OK.
P.S. Another person had this problem and it could not be solved.

And another person settled for a work around.

If outlook is open, Doing File-Send-Page by email, doesn't do a thing, it's as if I never clicked on the button. But if Outlook is closed, it works, and it's very odd, and Microsoft's support couldn't help either. But it's happeneing to almost 15 people at my company.
