Quicken 2000 restore backup problems

I am helping someone who had Quicken 2000 on a windows 98 computer.  Now she has Windows XP.  I backed up her Quicken 2000 and also did an export just to be sure.  I installed Quicken 2000 on her new Windows XP computer.  I tried to restore the backup.  The new computer doesn't have a floppy drive, so I tried backing up by putting the backup on the desktop; a CD and a memory stick.  When I click on restore backup, choose the file on one of those mentioned above and then click on ok nothing happens.  Finally I get a message that Quicken was unable to restore backup.  What do you suggest I do?  I tried getting help from Quicken but their online chat says that the Quicken 2000 is too old for them to bother helping.  lor2rain

I'm sorry I didn't respond earlier to this answer.  The quicken backup wasn't read only.  I never did get the backup to be accepted by Quicken.  But this answer did help me with my research.  I think that the Windows 98 computer was just so old and may have corrupted my backup.  And my client lost the original CD for Quicken and so I had to buy a used one from Amazon for her.  There must have been some incompatibility problems.  I'm going to accept the solution above and move on.  Thank you for always helping.
