Hello,
Sometimes, when we're shutting down a workstation, we get the message from windows that windows can't close MyAgtTry.exe...

Then we can click on "End Now", but that`s not a good sulution... ;)

Does anyone know what`s the reason for this, and does McAfee has a fix for this??

Thanks!

To speed up force-closing programs at shutdown, open the Registry Editor (in Vista, press the Windows key, type regedit, and press Enter; in XP, click Start > Run, type regedit, and press Enter), and navigate in the left pane to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/desktop (or Desktop). Double-click WaitToKillAppTimeout in the right pane, and change the value data (measured in milliseconds) to 1000-if you're in a real hurry--or something larger, if you want to give your recalcitrant apps a little more time to call it quits. Click OK when you're done.

To reduce the wait before forcing hung applications to close, double-click HungAppTimeout in the right pane of the same key, and change the value data to 2000, or however many milliseconds you want to give the apps to unhang on their own. Of course, a better approach is to figure out why the app is hanging in the first place; I'll cover diagnosing hung applications in a future post: Stay tuned!

You may also want to change the value data of WaitToKillAppTimeout and HungAppTimeout in HKEY_USERS/.DEFAULT/Control Panel/Desktop key to apply the changes to all users on the system.

A program that won't shutdown is'nt a good sign trough, maybe you should contact the vendor (McAffee) to get a solution.

Thanks!

On the McAfee Knowledgebade, I found an article about my problem:

https://knowledge.mcafee.com/SupportSite/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=615629&sliceId=SAL_Public&dialogID=32218224&stateId=1032214361

So the problem is known by McAfee, but they doesnt solve it... ;)

...in Vista, I don`t see the key WaitToKillAppTimeout or HungAppTimeout, but we have this error only with WinXP...

Thank you :-) maybe it will work in Vista if you create this keys by hand, not sure about that but it does'nt damage the system.

Good luck!

As per McAfee, they are aware of the issue, and are working to resolve it in the next release.
