Hi I am having trouble with the special character pipe (vertical bar or | ).

Currently I have a program that can takes a text file and parses out the data from CSV format into a Microsoft SQL database. When submitting the file, it has no issues except when multiple pipes ( ||| ) are being used  back to back in one of the text fields. This text field needs to use these pipes as it is being exported out of another program.

Example:
Text File states: 202000|||
Database states: 202000+|

Or

Text File States: 202000||
Database StateS: 202000+

Or with one pipe ( | ) it works...

Text File States: 202000|
Database States: 202000|

I am unsure where to start with this, but the pipes need to be correctly inserted in the database and when I use a select statement, I will need to be able to pull multiple pipes out of the database as well.....

Decided to change to '~' instead of pipes and does not look to have issues.
