javax crypto binary file

Is there a secret to using javax crypto with binary files?
I can get it to work for text files, but with binary files, in this case .an xls file, i get back garbage.

It should be no different. Make sure you are dealing with the file with a stream and not readers/writers.

it had something to do with the buffer size, not exactly sure ...
