Ping is the time it takes to make a connection (in miliseconds).
Speed is the actual transfer rate.

A low speed is bad for downloading and surfing
A high ping is bad for gaming and p2p downloading

actually since yesterday i have problem playing games online, because my ping is very high.what could be the reason my ping has become so high
Can be one of the following:

 - Your computer of a computer in your network is downloading/uploading (usually p2p transfers)
 - Your firewall is blocking something it did'nt block before
 - A gameserver (if it is one game / one server, otherwise its def. not this) is having network problems
 - Your modem/router has some problems, try powering it off and back on to see if it helps
 - Your ISP (Internet Service Provider) has a problem. Put another computer on the same line with all other computers turned off, see if u have the same high ping. Then it only can be a router/modem or ISP problem. If it's this, contact your ISP's helpdesk and ask them to run some tests on your line.

Good luck!
