Sync Files with Briefcase ????

Almost every day, I will sync my files using briefcase from our server so that i will have access to them at night while working at home.  The delima is that often the files become orphaned or corrupted.  I feel there is a better way to do this but don't want to spend a lot of time testing a bunch of utilities.  We have a VPN which i could access but the file transfer is soooo slow and i realize that is an entirely different discussion.  What i would like is one or two recommendations.

My external HD is a Maxtor OneTouch4Mini.  There are tools that came with the Maxtor External Drive - even has a sync tool but it doesn't seem to work well when i connect directly to the server (i.e. plug in to the USB on the server - not via a workstation).

Any suggestions?

Use Offline Folders instead of Briefcase. Right-click the folder or file and choose "Make available offline". This only works if you are using a Windows server.

Thanks for the suggestion!!
Would I copy the "offline" folders to the external hard drive?  If so, would these folders then "re-sync" with the live folders if any changes were made?
Thanks again!!

The offline folders are stored, by default, in %systemroot%\CSC. This is on your local disk. Here are instructions for moving this cache: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/cachemov.htm

Another possibility is Microsoft Sync Toy: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=E0FC1154-C975-4814-9649-CCE41AF06EB7
