windows xp Browser service will not start

I try and start the browser service and it stops and says some services do not need to be run etc. I made sure workstation and server are started, but can not get teh browser started any help

try this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/875362/en-us

also try go to Start>Run
Type regedit
Press enter
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Browser\Parameters
The MaintainServerList value should be set to Yes or Auto. If this Value is No then the computer browser service will not start.
