Exchange slowness

Users are complaining that its taking a long time for email to reach outside recipeints.  where can i look to start diagnosing this problem?

You have not mentioned hich version of Exchange you are using, I would suggest that you use the Exchange  Message Ttracking Centre in the Tools section of the Exchange System Manager. This will show the route that the mail is going through and will posibbly highlight any issues, I would also suggest switching on more Exchange logging and monitor the Event logs to identify any potential delivery issues reported there.

Its Exchange 2003.  
Do I do the tracking for specific emails or is there somehing i can do for all email possible in the queue that havent left our system yet?

You can use the tracking system to track individual e-mails or multiple e-mails that have been sent in and out of the system.

To check mails that are queued up in the system view the queue's and you will be able to see the amount of messages and where they are going to
