Creating SWF player with XML
Hi!
I found a really nice flash movie using xml on another website and after downloading all the components, managed to customize it to my liking. I'm not very familiar with advanced Flash/xml authoriing, but I was hoping to learn how to create a new "dl-loader.swf" file and "dl-main.swf" file to change the look of the player. Please take a look at the modified flash movie along with all the files/code via link below.
HTML Page with flash movie

Directory containing all components

Any help would be appreciated. I hope I made myself clear enough.
Thanks!

Samuel,
Thanks for the reply.
I don't have the source files and I doubt the creator would give me them either. The website I copied the SWF, XML and JS files off of is here: http://www.nationalgeographic.com/
I was only able to modify the XML file and swap out the original images for my own images. What is involved in decompiling the SWF files and how much information would that provide?
My goal here is not copyright infringement, but rather to understand exactly how the original FLA files interact with the XML file so that I can create my own FLA files with a different look (container) but retain the same functionality with the use of the XML reference file. I find this XML reference file very handy and I like the transition effects and text styling used in the SWF main file.
All the files I'm using at the moment can be downloaded from here:

Do you know by any chance how complex the main SWF might be?

I suggest you visit www.flashloaded.com and check out their components. Reasonable price and great support. Might find what your looking for.

Thanks William.
The site you recommended has some nice stuff worth considering for future projects. Thanks!
However, I really like the flash movie/script in this post and hope to be able to disect and customize it to my own liking.

There is of course the possibility to decompile the project, but in that case I would rather advice you to contact the creator of the original and ask for the source so that you can modify it yourself.
