Are you running Apache on a *nix server or a windows server?

There is always the ps ax command that you can use to see if the application is running. If it is, do you have a remote system with a browser that you can attempt to connect to that server with? Also, did you do something similar to this for installation:

what is the difference between PREFIX/bin/apachectl start?


httpd service start?
