I'm using VS 2008 and aspNet3.5. Whenever I attempt to add a new ajax control, I get the following error:
The operation could not be completed. Invalid FORMATETC structure. Do you know how to fix this? Thanks.

You can try some solutions here: http://forums.asp.net/t/958506.aspx

They mention about making the control public, or just exiting out and back in again.

I did the folllowing steps and it worked:
1- Upgraded AjaxControlToolkit to May 13 2003 version
2- Simply checkedout the entire solution and then tried adding the control again
