Is there a way to keep local files?

With Dreamweaver and the original Microsoft Interdev, one could work on files on a remote server, but it would download and keep a copy in a folder on one's local computer.

Is there a setting within Visual Studio for this?

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Visual Studio does not allow you to work on files remotely.  It does have a publishing tool that can upload files to a remote server via different mechanisms.

I don't know if this is a feature of the Express version, however it is a feature of the professional version.

Check the Build menu to see if there is a Publish sub menu... If present, this will open the publish tool.

With such a publish option, do you know if, when you work on a local file, it checks the remote location to get the most recent version?

No... It will overwrite if the file exists already.  There is also an option to delete everything first before publishing.
