We had a server go down, or so we thought today.  It actually just ran an update and then restarted, but nowI am being asked if i reconfigured the wauc.  I am not aware of what the wauc is or how to reconfigure it, any help would be great!

It could potentially be a number of things, but just out of the built-in Windows components, I would say it's more than likely talking about the Windows Automatic Updates Client. You'll need to say whether you changed any settings regarding Automatic Updates, basically.
