I read others have this problem and wondered if someone found a solution or just commiserate I guess.

Got a new XPS 1530 (June) with 3gb of memory and a T8300 processor. Frame rate on webcam is horrible. I recorded at 640x480 and played it back.

What a disappointment even over store bought $50 webcams.

Played it back and blurry when I moved, no syncing of audio with mouth. Perhaps that is the way I look to others (hope not).

Any solution to this?

Try rendering your web cam output into a QT movi or .mov or .rm and play it back on a different machine such as a true gaming desktop and then compare your fps.  Your " i "hope this is not the way I look to others" has the thread of a definitive answer. If the movies play the same on a gaming desktop card then the camera is faulty/poor. if it plays fine, then the card/chipset on the lappy is faulty/poor. if it is the lappy, then you can look at the omega drivers and see if they can up your performance a little.

In better light it worked better, so perhaps that is the problem.
