Exabyte Media failing inventory in Backup Exec 10.d and showing as "bad media"

Hi,
My problem is that I have been trying to read some old exabyte tapes, but every single one is coming up as bad media when I do an inventory. The software used to backup in the exabyte tapes was Backup Exec Netware Administration Console 9.0 with hardware compression activated.I tried to read the tapes with the exabyte drives that we used in the past, but they were not working propertly, so we bought a new Sun Mammoth Exabyte 8mm Drive Model 611. I tried to inventor tapes from 4 different servers and we have many many of them and all come out as bad media in Backup Exec 10.d and in Backup Exec 8.0. Both versions let me erase and write to the tapes, but it does not read them. We also used Backup Exec Netware to backup with Quantum LTO1 tape drives and Backup Exec 10.d reads and writes perfectly to them, so I tried a couple of things but I run out of ideas to test. Please I will appreciate any feedback. I been trying to figure it out for weeks.

You may need to try those old drives again.

It is possible that te old drives were not aligned properly, or other issues?

Are you sure that they worked properly at all ?

Is the new drive totally backward compatible ?

You may need to try a data recovery company.

Thank you so much, I try those old drives again. This time I check everything to make sure the configuration of the drives were the same one and they worked perfectly. I still don't know whit the new exabyte tape, but as long something works is fine. Thanks a lot again.
