Vista Ultimate clean install issues on Sony VAIO VGN A617M
I have just installed vista ultimate on my VGN A617M vaio, which had XP Home originaly and now I have a little problem, most of the XP drivers dont work on vista . Like bluetooth drivers, the special buttons for volume and brightness keys dont work too. Is there a way of making these features work on vista? I have tried all the updates for vista from the vaio support site, but it doesnt help. Can you point me in the right direction please?

Hi sparkmaker, I have tried usind the link you provided but it seems that it only works for the US customers and it does not recognise my notebook model. I think thats why you couldnt find the A617M on their support site
These are the only Vista utilities as there are no drivers I can find for your model

According to Sony there is a specific order that these should be installed.

** Most XP drivers will work in Vista. We provide Vista download drivers only if XP drivers do not work and there are no supported Vista inbox drivers. This means that, for some built-in devices such as the Memory Stick, Motion Eye camera, etc., you might have to install the appropriate XP drivers in case you perform a clean installation of the Vista OS. XP drivers can be found on the VAIO recovery disc or on our website (see preinstalled drivers).

It is VGN-A617M
I have bought it in London on Tottenham Crt Rd. I havent got my laptop at hand at the moment but will use try that link when I get home and post some feedback. I have hoped that there could be some 3rd party software for the buttons and bluetooth. Graphics, audio, wifi drivers are working no probs.
