When trying to open a simple .asp page, "HTTP/1.1 500 Server Error" is shown in the browser, even with friendly error messages disabled. The Event Viewer shows this: "Error: ASP will not serve requests because it could not perform the first request initialization."

Filemon shows that the asp page is fetched without any problems. ASP is enabled in the Web Service Extensions. ASP pages used to work without any problems, they just suddenly stopped working. Html pages work without any problem.

Hi there

turn off the Show Friendly HTTP error messages in
Internet Explorer so we can get a more descriptive error. You can do this
by opening IE, choose Internet Options from the Tools menu, Advanced tab
...scroll down until you see Show Friendly HTTP error messages. Uncheck
this option

then post back with the more descriptive error

oh and read this it might help
