How to mark message as read when clicking it?

In Outlook 2007, there is an option you can set that will mark the message as read after 0 seconds once you've clicked it.   I can't find this option in Outlook 2003.   Is there a way to mark a message as read immediately in 2003 once you've clicked it?

From the Tools menu, select Options...
The Options dialog box appears.

Select the Other tab
#

In the Reading Pane section, click READING PANE...
The Reading Pane dialog box appears.

 To have your messages marked as read as soon as you click to the next message, select Mark item as read when selection changes
OR
To specify a length of time that you can view a message in the Reading Pane before it is marked read,

   1. Select Mark items as read when viewed in the Reading Pane
   2.

      In the Wait ... seconds before marking item as read text box, adjust the number of seconds
