How do I delete the Windows Media Player 11 library.

I'm moving all my music (over 40GB) to an external drive. What's the best way to get WMP 11 to find the new location without creating duplicate entries?

Hi,

if you select move instead of copy the files will be moved from teh original location then click library at teh top add to library and advanced options, add teh location where you have moved them

if you get duplicate entries then got to

USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player\

clear out teh folder log out and back in again and you shoudl be good to go

ah , started copying already, is it the same if I just delete the originals afterwards - i don't trust 'move' too much ;-), prefer to make sure they copy ok.

yeah that will be fine or just delete the manually from old location and then add the new location to the library list pretty simple bud, if your having trouble let me know, im here for about another hour then back in the morning

only do the delete from
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player\

if you have duplicate entries in your library list once you have deleted teh original files from tehir original locations
