Hey all,

Quick question regarding the way that SMTP handles queued mail. I thought it was in chronological order, but it seems to not be. Does anyone have a better understanding of how it handles message queues? We are blasting e-mails and having them go through our queue, some could be added at 4:08PM, and not be sent till 7:00PM, where some others get added at 6:30, and get sent right at 6:30 - in front of e-mails that have been in the queue for longer.

SMTP tries to send the message as soon as it arrive in the Queue. Delay may happen if the smtp server on the other end is busy accepting connection at that specific time if you are relaying your mail to another SMTP server. In that case based on how you have configured, the local SMTP server wil ltry to send the message after predefined interval .This may be reason why you are facing this issue....
