Exchange 2003 messages getting delayed in queue

I then have to force the connection to each connector for the messages to be sent.  Once I force connection the messages fly out without a problem.  This happens to every email message from every user.

Bit of background:  Using 3rd party spam appliance so main mx record at hosting company points to spam appliance and then sub domain points to our exchange server.  We have no problem receiving mail..just sending.

Try to disable that. and see if it works.

No. Disabling the AV didnt change anything.

Disabling the AV didnt work but completely removing it did.  Thanks for the shove in the right direction.
