My own personal views are as follows.

Symantec mail security isnt that good at all, on testing it again mail based attacks I would that it would let dangerous mail through without either deleting or quaranine. It was then left for my outlook 2007 to establish that the mail was indeed dangerous and was blocked on the client and not the server. Big reason as to why I only used it for a week :-) The other is the fact that you are also required to purchase over and above the standard mail security software "Premium" spam filter, which at the end of the day leaves you with their standard out the box spam protection unless you want to fork out even more money..

Forefront products on the other hand I have found to be excellent, working with both forefront client security and mail security I have found that as far as updates go.. Microsoft are far superior in comprassion to Symantec. Their updates are pushed via the windows update platform and as such can also be controlled via WSUS. Ideal if you are already running this. As far as the protection offered by Forefront goes it is much better, thats all I can say :P I wouldnt go back to symantec to be honest ! You get 5 different virus checking engines with fronefront opposed to symantecs single inhouse definitions.

Another option would be GFI Mail security I have also found this to be an excellent product.

Hope this helps

Regards
Steve
