Best hardware setup to make Dragon Naturally Speaking work sucessfully.

I have Dragon Naturally Speaking 9 running on Windows XP SP2 on a Dell 5150 Dimension desktop, and was wondering if there is any hardware setup that might give me a better chance of success using it.

Is a USB headset better than one that connects to a sound card?
Is a headset better than a microphone?  How much does the cost/quality of a headset increase the chance of success?  Considerations like that.

The best way to test your current microphone would be to record your own voice on the PC and play it back. If it sounds clear to you, then it will be clear to Dragon. If however you can hear distortion etc you may need to try a better microphone (but to be honest you should have to spend more than about $10-20). If you do hear distortion try changing the mic volume settings in Windows before you go out and buy a new one.
